How to Read Betting Odds
Bettors in Bangladesh generally come across three odds formats. Each one needs to be understood a little differently.
Decimal Odds (most common)
This is the simplest format. To find your total return, multiply your stake by the odds. For example, odds of 2.25 on team A winning means a ৳1,000 stake returns ৳2,250 in total (profit ৳1,250 + original stake ৳1,000); if you lose, ৳1,000 is gone.
Fractional Odds
Given as a fraction — the numerator is the profit, the denominator is the stake. 5/4 on team A means a ৳4 stake wins ৳5 profit. On a ৳1,000 stake, the profit is ৳1,250.
American Odds
A positive number (+) shows how much profit a ৳100 stake earns. A negative number (–) shows how much you need to stake to earn ৳100 profit.
Decimal 2.25 = Fractional 5/4 = American +125
If you win, total return is ৳2,250 (profit ৳1,250 + stake ৳1,000); if you lose, ৳1,000 is gone.
Decimal 1.25 = Fractional 1/4 = American -400
A ৳1,000 stake returns ৳1,250 (profit of only ৳250). American -400 means you need to stake ৳400 to earn ৳100 profit.
